The Amaranthine Chronicles Complete Series: Betrayed By Blood, Dark Revenge, The Final Battle – REVIEW

Betrayed By Blood

In a city of lies and deception, only one thing stands between chaos and justice. For centuries, a band of outlaws called the Amaranthine has kept the peace in Ormere and hidden in plain sight whilst the Order of Sorcerers spreads their deadly magic among the city’s inhabitants.
After losing her fiancé in bust gone wrong, Amaranthine Agent Kaylan Avilion returns home to discover that Elijah didn’t die but instead was changed by the twisted guards of the Order, who seek to find a dangerous artifact tied to Kaylan’s past and the murder of her family. When her sister goes missing and a foe from their past reemerges, Kaylan knows she must save Freya before she’s poisoned by the very people who took Elijah away from her. But how will Kaylan react when she learns Elijah’s secret and can they come together to stop the Order’s plan in time?

Dark Revenge

Darkness is sweeping through the city of Ormere as unnatural creatures stalk through the streets. People are dying and time is running out as a new evil threatens to take control of everything. The Amaranthine Order has been decimated leaving only a few of its people left to fight the coming terror.
Stunned by her sister Freya’s betrayal and plot to take over the city, Kaylan must do everything she can to find out what Freya plans to do when she finds an infamous book linked to the murder of their family. A book considered so dangerous that the last High Lord erased its location from history, the Amaranthine Chronicles are said to contain the darkest of all magics.
Kaylan is happy to finally have her ex-fiancé, Elijah, back in her life but he’s not the man she once knew and loved. After being turned into a shapeshifter, Elijah struggles to control his inner beast and his lingering feelings for Kaylan.
Can Elijah and Kaylan come together to stop Freya and uncover the secrets of the book before it’s too late?

The Final Battle

Darkness has claimed the city of Ormere and death has become a certainty for anyone stalking its empty streets. The government in ruins and lawlessness ensues.
After being dragged back into the past, Kaylan and Elijah barely managed to thwart her sister, Freya’s latest attempts to find and use the elusive Amaranthine Chronicles. But in her desperation to receive ultimate power, Freya will stop at nothing to get what she wants. Even if it means destroying the last of her family.
Kaylan and Elijah must work on their fragile relationship and put their personal feelings aside to find the book and stop Freya before it’s too late. But with their allies growing thin, their best friends both injured and a gang of ruthless shapeshifters close on their trail, will they finally find the book and stop Freya before time runs out? And will Kaylan have to make the ultimate sacrifice to save her city and the man she loves?

The Amaranthine Chronicles Complete Series: Paranormal Romance Box Set: Betrayed By Blood, Dark Revenge, The Final Battle by [Shand, Tiffany]

I was a fan of Tiffany Shand’s first series, Denai Bound and I wasn’t disappointed with this series at all.
I read all three one right after the other; the novels definitely read more as parts of one whole novel as opposed to three separate which I found myself enjoying as each flowed nicely into the next.
Shand never disappoints when it comes to suspenseful paranormal; I do wish that each novel built a little more on the characters and this world filled with good vs evil, magic, alchemy, and the tug of rope love story simply because I was so drawn in I wanted to know more.
There were some small editing/grammatical errors however were small compared to the overall body of the story.
I love a story where the female lead is a strong on, a woman who can hold her own, and Kaylan Avilion is a woman with a backbone.
I enjoyed how the suspense level remained relatively linear throughout each novel, starting with the return of Kaylan and her reunion with Ethan as her sister goes missing and then in the 2nd novel when the truth comes to light and the search for a book that is a vessel holding dark magic fuels a greed for power and finally in the third when the fight between family and sacrifice, good vs shapeshifters and the ultimate fight for happily ever after.
A capturing and thoroughly enjoyable series from the start.

Denai Bound (book 2) by Tiffany Shand- REVIEW

Denai witch, Cate McCray should be enjoying married life with her new elemental husband, Jason. But their arrival in a new city soon has them stumbling headlong into a new case with dangerous connections to the very people that govern their world. Cate and Jason face opposition from those they once considered allies. Together with their team of enforcers, they must find the killer before anyone else dies. With danger from all sides and the threat of ancient, dangerous magic the team must pull together and use all their strength to find their enemy before disaster strikes.

Denai Bound I thought was just as good as the first novel in this series.
The way Shand writes in the paranormal sense is incredible and draws you into the story and into a world I could only wish to experience!
I was pulled into the story almost immediately; there was a seamless flow from the first book to the second that didn’t have me asking questions or confused about what may have happened in between. I love romance but I also love paranormal in all genres and I thought there was a nice balance between the two in this book.
I always love how strong Cate is and the relationship between her and Jason. A strong female lead is the be all end all for me and this story had a strong heroin to lead it. I enjoyed getting to know some of the other characters like Jade, Steve and Ian and read how their relationships were starting to build along with how Cate was learning to manage all of the power, both magic and responsibility with her title of GM and Enforcer. I also really liked the the progression of the enemy in this story (not to name names and give anything away!) however I found my emotions evoked with each encounter. Shand did a wonderful job with the mystery behind the evil in this story and really had me guessing as to who could possibly be behind chaos.
Overall I really enjoyed this story – if you’re looking for a magical, suspenseful, romantical, summer read – Denai Bound is the one for you.
*I would definitely recommend that you read Denai Touch (the first in the series) first*

Where to find Tiffany Shand:

REVIEW – Denai Touch by Tiffany Shand

Title: Denai Touch

Author: Tiffany Shand

Book Description:

Cate McCray is no ordinary witch. Prophesised to be the one to destroy the Covenant, an age-old organisation who seeks to enslave all Magickind, the race is on for them to kill her before she attains immortality.

But before receiving the phenomenal power that comes with it, she must first survive the ascension and the only person who can help her is her elemental partner, Jason Talbot.
But when the time comes, her forbidden love for Jason threatens to destroy them both.

As leader of Excalibar, an elite team of Enforcers, they work to infiltrate the Covenant leading Cate into life-threatening situations. Can she outwit them before it’s too late?

Book Review:

Suspense, romance, paranormal… three of my favourite genres in a novel and Denai Touch didn’t disappoint.
I found myself really getting into the story by the third and fourth chapter to the point I was having trouble putting it down.
I found the concept of this novel extremely intriguing as it went against the grain of a typical paranormal romance. I was drawn into the story, intrigued by the characters and their individuality’s as well as the magnetizing magic that surrounds them, both literal and conceptual. Even though there were a lot of characters (and I found myself re-reading some parts to really understand each one – to no fault of the author) as the story came together, each one was a necessary and integral part of the novel as a whole.
I thoroughly enjoyed the strength written into the female characters in this novel, as much as some of them clashed (which, let’s be honest, conveys out of Magickind and into real life) – the fight Cate shows against both her powers and her love (and *swoon… where can I find me a Jason Talbot?) was both entertaining and entrancing. Truly a good versus evil fight, added in some family drama and a happily ever after… what could be better?
This was my first time reading Tiffany Shand and I have to say, a part of me felt both giddy and impatient at the end of the book reading when the next novel in the series was coming out!

Stalking encouraged – find Tiffany Shand!

Review: Her Alphas (The Girl With The Werewolf Tattoo #2) by Alexia Wells

Veronica’s werewolf tattoos mark her as the mate of two sexy insatiable alphas, Rafe and Slade, identical dark-haired hunks. Together their powers and their pleasures are amplified. They teach her when to control her inner wolf and when to let it run free. Veronica wants to tell her friends everything only she fears they won’t be able to handle the truth that she is a werewolf. And even if they can adapt to the reality that the supernatural world exists, will they accept that she loves both men? Whether they find out or not may be out of her hands. The full moon is rising and danger is closer to her friends than she realizes. Danger is no problem for Rafe and Slade. They are virtually invincible. The only thing stronger than their power together is their love for Veronica. When she gets an ominous warning that their bond will endanger everyone, she would rather kill the messenger of this bleak prophecy than give it any credence. The girl with the werewolf tattoo won’t let anything separate her from her gorgeous blue-eyed alphas. Not fate. Not fear. Not even death.

This book is an erotic romance intended for mature audiences.

I enjoyed book two in this series much more than I did book 1. I thought the length of the book was great for the story with not as many fast paced parts to the story. In book 2 the characters evolve and we learn more about Veronica and her relationship with Slade and Rafe. All of the secondary characters from book 1 make an appearance and I was surprised by some of the turns they took. I thought the role of Bernadette was intriguing although I must admit I was a little confused at times but I think her role in the story will be revealed in book 3. The one thing that threw me was the role of Tasha, and without giving anything away I will say as the novel progressed I got used to it and found myself more intrigued than wondering why is this happening? I thought the action scenes in this novel were full of detail and wonderfully portrayed which kept me wanting to read more. The erotic scenes in this book were just as well done as the first, full of hot, sexy steam – Wells knows how to write erotic while keeping the romance which I think is a wonderful skill to possess.

I found this novel to be more captivating than the first, enough to have me wondering what is going to happen in the next.

Review: The Girl With The Werewolf Tattoo by Alexia Wells

Veronica Lux had no idea her grandfather was a werewolf. Years ago when she came of age, he gave her an antique silver necklace and made her vow never to take it off. She kept that promise until she lost it. With it gone inexplicably she is compelled to get a wolf tattoo like her grandfather’s, except hers has two wolves. She has the mark of the wolf now and with the silver necklace, that had been shielding her gone, the hidden world of werewolves is revealed and her destined mate, an incredibly sexy alpha wolf, comes for her. Her tattoo of two wolves complicates things. Another wolf claims she is his. When she discovers that both of these alpha wolves have the same tattoo as hers, Veronica gets pulled into something she isn’t prepared to face. Who this other wolf really is, shocks them all. And it gets harder to resist the powerful draw both have on her as her inner wolf begins to emerge. This book contains explicit sexual content, including a one woman with two men threesome.

I honestly wasn’t sure how I felt about this novel after I finished reading it. There are pros and cons that kind of even out for me; I found the story very fast paced, I think almost too fast at times, there was just no breathing room going from one thing to the next. And although there were some grammar and spelling issues I must say the erotic scenes were well done with excitement and sensuality and the actual storyline is an interesting one.

Veronica and her friends go to New Orleans for a bachelorette party where she meets a lady on the streets, a woman who reads people and she comments on the necklace Veronica’s grandfather gave to her with the promise that she never take it off. While in town Veronica feels the urge to get inked and that is where her life changes forever. Meeting the seductive Slade and then his brother Rafe, Veronica realizes her true potential in life – to be with these two men and live as her true self, a werewolf.

What I found too fast in this novel were how quickly the relationships moved. The novel was a short one so I can understand moving at a rapid pace but at times it was unrelatable for me. This is where I’m torn because I really enjoyed the actual story. I thought the basis of the relationships were great and the characters themselves were full of life while the erotic scenes were very well done with hot and steamy details. Alexia Wells definitely has an imagination for erotic paranormal romance with a different take on werewolves.

Lindsey R. Loucks – The Grave Winner Book Review!

Nothing better to do on a rainy day other than curling up with a new book – today’s happened to by Lindsey R. Loucks – The Grave Winner # 1

Genre: YA, Fantasy Supernatural, Urban Fantasy

Leigh Baxton is terrified her mom will come back from the dead — just like the prom queen did.

While the town goes beehive over the news, Leigh bikes to the local cemetery and buries some of her mom’s things in her grave to keep her there. When the hot and mysterious caretaker warns her not to give gifts to the dead, Leigh cranks up her punk music and keeps digging.

She should have listened.

Two dead sorceresses evicted the prom queen from her grave to bury someone who offered certain gifts. Bury them alive, that is, then resurrect them to create a trio of undead powerful enough to free the darkest sorceress ever from her prison inside the earth.

With help from the caretaker and the dead prom queen, Leigh must find out what’s so special about the gifts she gave, and why the sorceresses are stalking her and her little sister. If she doesn’t, she’ll either lose another loved one or have to give the ultimate gift to the dead – herself.

I received a copy of this novel in exchange for a review!

The Grave Winner is one that is intricate and complicated in the best of ways when it comes to a YA novel.
Leigh Baxton is heartbroken as she stands within the midst of her mother’s funeral with her father and sister. With the help of her eccentric best friend Jo she enters back into the world of high school and tries to forget about the scene after standing at her mother’s grave. Sarah, the dead prom queen who rose from the ground.
Leigh is left with more confusion as word spreads about the dead coming back to life and she does everything she can to keep her mom in her grave all while the world around her drastically changes along with the strict warnings from Scary Boy Tram in which she chooses to ignore.
Leigh struggles with her heart between Jo’s older brother Cal and Tram even in the midst of the return of the dead, alternate realities, sorceresses and spiders!
Even though it took me a few pages to get into the story by the end I was saying “What’s going to happen next!!??”
A suspenseful story full of action packed dark twists and turns! An enjoyable read.
